40. Death Masks by Jim Butcher – This is book 5 of the Dresden Files and it rocks. Seriously. Can’t wait to start book 6. (finished 7/2)
41. Riding Wild by Jaci Burton – Another “oh, my,” this time novel-length. Not for young (i.e., non-adult) readers, but could be quite fun for the rest of you. (finished 7/6)
42. Blood Rites by Jim Butcher – Book 5 of the Dresden Files series. So good! The story line is intense and the developments in Dresden’s personal life are profound. Those who are interested in reading the series should definitely do it IN ORDER, as Dresden’s personal narrative and professional entanglements develop from book to book, so things in book 5 make more sense and have deeper impact on you if you’re already up to speed by having read books 1-4. And book 6 (which I’m about a third of the way through already) continues the pattern. Did I mention that Blood Rites is so good? (finished 7/11)
43. Dead Beat by Jim Butcher – I can’t decide if this newest in the Dresden Files series is my favorite or if it’s still #5 (Blood Rites). Either way, Dead Beat was amazing. Loved it! (finished 7/14)
44. Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher – Book 7 in the Dresden Files series. Harry Dresden’s world and story just keep getting better. The complications and challenges, the growth and entanglements, the layers and laughs are so much fun to discover and play in! (finished 7/18 )
45. Losing the Peace by William Leisner – This Star Trek: The Next Generation novel features the aftermath of the Borg war, which the Federation won. It’s well-written and covers a lot of ground (er, space) well, but I should have found the books that precede it, so I wouldn’t be finding out/piecing together the war stuff from the effects detailed here. Normally, I read series in order, but it’s been a while since I grabbed a ST: TNG book and I didn’t realize I’d left such an important gap. I strongly recommend you not do the same. Now I’ll have to hit the bookstore and get the Borg war books. Ah, well, there could be worse things to have to do, no? (finished 7/20)
46. White Knight by Jim Butcher – Book 9 of the Dresden Files keeps the intrigue, excitement and fun coming. I loved it! Harry finds himself in a mess, again, and finds an unexpected (but totally logical) way to survive it. Can’t wait to get into book 10 and find out what the fallout will be! (finished 7/24)
47. Small Favor by Jim Butcher – Book 10 of the Dresden Files doesn’t disappoint. Hope I get my hands on book 11 today! (finished 7/28 )
48. If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern – Everything this author writes is magical. This book is no exception and, in fact, includes more of the supernatural than any of her other works, to delightful effect. It’s affirming and heartwarming and fun. I heartily recommend it. (finished 7/29 )
