49. Turn Coat by Jim Butcher – At last, I’m up to date on the Dresden Files series! This last novel was really good and leaves all kinds of places for the series to go in the future. Unfortunately, it’s in the future. As in, this book was published in April ‘09, which means it could be months (up to a year?) before the next novel comes out. AAAAARRRGGGHH! I really do have to stop getting caught up in good series fiction, ’cause I hate having to wait for the next novels to come out. Sigh! (finished 8/1)
50. For a Few Demons More by Kim Harrison – I started this book with the sure knowledge that I had already read the first part of it, but I wasn’t sure how far into it I’d gotten before I’d put it down. Turns out, I’d read the whole thing, but it was long enough ago (in number of books read since) that I’d forgotten the twists and developments at the end, so I enjoyed it all over again. I think I read it in 2007, but I couldn’t find my list of books read from that year… although I did find 2005 and 2006 lists, and I know I read it after that. Either way, it is a good book, but really should be read in the context of the series of which it’s a part. I think it’s book 4 or 5 in Harrison’s Rachel Morgan series. Now, I wonder if I already read that one, too? (finished 8/11)
51. Neverwhere by Neil Gaimon – I loved this book! Gaimon published it in 1996, but I discovered it just this summer. So intriguing to think of a whole society existing beneath the reality we generally inhabit. Highly recommended. (finished 8/20)
52. Greater than the Sum by Christopher L Bennett – This Star Trek: The Next Generation novel comes 4 books earlier than the last one I read and posted a few weeks ago. (Don’t you hate reading series stuff out of order? Or is that just me?) It was a good read and did a great job of introducing new and viable characters. (finished 8/27)
