6. Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich – I’d forgotten thatI hadn’t finished this book, which I started reading in early December at my favorite bookstore, and didn’t remember until after dinner on my birthday, when the BC12 and I stopped off at that establishment. I plopped down with the book and quickly found my place, backtracked a chapter and dove it. I finished it about 80 minutes later, whizzing through the last third, laughing out loud at parts of it and loving every little bit. Evanovich doesn’t write heavy tomes; her Stephanie Plum books are plot-driven and humor-heavy, with quirks and characters that make them delightful. I’m not sure why this novel is a “between-the-numbers book,” as it’s as fully fleshed out as any of the regular Plum novels. I loved it and can’t wait for more. (finished 2/5)
7. Extras by Scott Westerfeld – After getting home from the bookstore (where I finished book#6), I settled into bed to finish this, the 4th book in the Tally Youngblood/Uglies series. Almost a week ago I’d reached the beginning of the final action, but I put off reading it because I was so exhausted at night and didn’t want to crash out in the middle of the hot-n-heavy stuff. I wanted to be fully awake and present, so I could enjoy and understand everything. That turned out to be a good plan. I really liked Extras and found it to be a worthy 4th book in what was to have been a trilogy. If you’ve read the other three, you’ll like this one, too. (finished 2/5)
