One skein of Bernat Lu Lu (discontinued) in a lilac shade, with enough left to do trim on some booties and a hat.
One skein of Plymouth Yarn Heaven Lite.
US-size 8 circular. Crochet hook, but I don’t remember what size.
Pattern and mods: I downsized Sally Melville’s Einstein Coat (Jacket?) from her book The Knitting Experience, book 1: The Knit Stitch. The smallest size there was a child’s size 2. I followed the math sequence to take it down 2 more sizes… except I made the “length” of the bottom piece 3 inches larger than called for. To do that, I knit the first garter-stitch section (that’s the purple part) 3 inches wider. When you pick up the stitches for the bodice fronts and back, you’re knitting into the side of that purple part, so any width there becomes length on the sweater. I also didn’t put buttons on it, using a single crocheted tie instead. Check out the blog post for 11/8/09 to see the pics.
