Doublet/vest for the BC15′s medieval faire costume.
Fabric: black microfiber suede cloth from the Hub’s stash, blue polyester lining from my stash. (Doesn’t everyone have a stash for each of her hobbies?!)
Pattern: The view A doublet from Simplicity pattern #4059, which is in its Renaissance Costume Collection. I made it without the decorative sleeve caps, sleeves, front closure, decorative tabs, etc., as the character who will be wearing it is a Viking ship’s captain, not a courtier. Also, I didn’t have enough of the lining material to use it on the “skirt” of the doublet, so that part is unlined. Luckily, the black microfiber doesn’t seem to fray, no one should be the wiser. I did use it on the actual vest parts, as it will help it hold its shape (microfiber suede is a bit stretchy) and also provided a neat finish for the raw edges.
