NOT!

Molly, Cheri, Ginger, Tira and Cupcake (who is more of a Poundcake these days, but still oh-so-sweet!)
That photo was, obviously, taken mid-show. I have no idea what we were singing, but we were clearly having a good time. Thanks to the hubs for taking it.
Want to see more evidence of our non-suffering? Sure you do! Check it out:
This was the scene that greeted some attendees at the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire this past Sunday morning when the front gate opened. From left to right, the picture includes the Jay Michaels (the harper half of The Harper and The Minstrel), Ginger Snap, Tira McSue, Allan (on violin), Paul (on guitar), Cheri Tart, Cupcake (in my new costume) and Molly Licalolli. The females pictured? Yep, that’s Just Desserts, my wench troupe. We were having an impromptu jam session, singing (possibly) “What Do You Do with a Drunken Sailor?” at full voice. It was a great warm-up and a definite foretaste of how our day would go.
As you can guess, it was a terrific day!
And here’s one more photo of us, this time after one of our wench shows:
I don’t yet have a good picture of the BC15 in his vest/doublet and pants, but will post one as soon as I do. I’m told his doublet was a bit hit, and at least three people told me directly that they thought it made the outfit. Not a bad result or reactions for one day’s sewing!

I am knitting. (Sad, isn’t it, that I should feel compelled to say that? I mean, it’s a knitting blog, so surely I’m always knitting something, right? Right? Yeah, um, not so much.)
The current project: a pair of l-o-n-g K1P1 fingerless mitts for Tira McSue to use next year as part of her costume. I had planned to make them for this year’s faire, but it didn’t get cold enough** to wear mitts or cloaks or scarves, so I didn’t push to get them done. If all goes well, I’ll finish them this weekend, then it’ll be Tira’s challenge to not lose them before next year’s faire. The yarn label is elsewhere in the house and I’m too lazy to go look for it right now, but the yarn itself is a blend of bamboo and silk in the most gorgeous purple. Notes and photos to follow.

** This is the first year in the 14 I’ve been working the faire that there wasn’t at least one really cold morning. Say what you like about the cause of global climate change (GCC), but there’s no question in my mind that it’s happening.
Two other signs of GCC I observed at faire this year: the pine trees bloomed at least a week earlier than usual; and there were lovebugs out (which usually doesn’t happen till March).

Thanks to the Hubs for the top photo, to John Bollinger for the second and to Michael Taylor for the bottom one.
