Alas, my kittens, there has been no break in the grey here, unless you count the downpours and fog, which frankly are pretty grey too. So, no new pictures yet.
I know, I know: Could I do that whole photography thing any more slowly? To which I say: Think tortoise, not hare.
I will be taking the scarf-in-progress and the new yarn with me to my mom’s tomorrow and hope to be have sunnier conditions in the two days I’ll spend there. If so, I’ll post the photos when I get back home. (Mom’s going internet-free these days, so my access will be cut off. I know, how will I stand it?? Two days without e-mail or net-surfing or updated podcasts or … Sigh!) (On a related note, OMG, how spoiled am I? I mean, there are people dying over a lack of clean water and I’m whining about two days without internet connectivity? Sheesh.)
As for the palindrome scarf, it is now about an inch longer. Maybe an inch and a half. I’ve worked two 8-hour and two12-hour shifts and attended to some Christmas-related (but non-knitting) stuff since my last post, so there hasn’t been a lot of yarny time. And it took me about an hour to wind the last hank into a center-pull skein, which ate up half of that. Ah, well. Just call me the tortoise on this project, too, although I have high hopes of making great strides while at Mom’s, perhaps even of finishing the 3rd skein of O-wool. (Susie told me tonight that she has not purchased a 4th skein yet, so I should be able to start one of those toddler hats soon. You remember, the two hats requested by one of my co-workers.)
On the “finished” side, the Christmas tree is up and decorated, due largely to the hare-like energy and efforts of the BC13, who was revved up to get it done yesterday afternoon. And it looks beautiful. I left all the decorating up to him (once the pre-lighted tree was assembled and had garland on it), so he gets all the credit. It was a glorious sight to wake up to. (If only I could get him to do my Christmas shopping and wrapping for me, too!)
Despite my tortoise-like progress, the days are flying by and the holiday is practically upon us. Not to worry, as we all know the tortoise won the race in the end, so I refuse to stress out… At least not this week. Next week, well, that may be a whole other story.
My apologies to Jan, who rightly pointed out my past fecklessness in updating the blog. I hate it when my fav bloggers take too long to put up new posts, too, but I’m glad to know you check back often. I will try to do better. (Hey, is that a new year’s resolution… in mid-December?! Guess I’m not a tortoise on everything, then!)
Happy crawling… or hopping, if that’s your thing. I’ll be back in touch Wednesday or Thursday.
