In response to my last post, one of my very favorite people on the interwebs, RobinH, wrote, “If you don’t know/have time to figure out your next project, cast on another square. It’s never a bad thing to have easy pick-up-anytime knitting on the go. I’m always surprised how many odds and ends I whack out while dithering over the next ‘real’ project.”
She either has a camera at my place** or she read my mind or there’s something in the air, ’cause…
…look what I did yesterday morning:
I started these around 4 a.m. and finished around 11 a.m. In knitting these, I used up the remnants of 3 skeins of yarn, which jacked up my yarn-usage total, as I don’t add in the yardage for any skein until I’ve used all of it. The jewel-toned stuff has been in my stash for the gods only know how long, and it’s wonderful to have found a way to
get it out of there use it for good.
For actual good, as in for charity. Thanks to the efforts of some wonderful people at my LYS, they will be combined with other “squares” to make blankets for homeless people, etc., in my town.
If I can remember to take them to the store, that is. In the meantime, they’re in a bag with the 15 I knit last year and never took to the store. Sigh. I’m going to put the bag in my car, so I’ll have them on hand next time I stop in for more yarn shopping… perhaps this very Saturday, as the store is having their annual yard sale then. (Shhhh, don’t tell anyone. I want to be one of the first to get at the good stuff!)
** For RobinH’s sake, I hope not. There are some things you just cannot un-see.
