by Stieg Larsson – The action starts immediately and rolls right through to the end, which made this book a much faster and more engaging read than the first Lisbeth Salander novel (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Those who struggled to get through the first 100 pages of book one (and I admit I was one of them) will not have that problem with this sequel, which starts two years after book one concluded.
It’s clear that Larsson wrote these books as a trilogy, as the first one was a sort of prelude to the action we find here. In book one, we never see Lisbeth’s back story, as Larsson saved it for this volume. And it’s a doozy, let me tell you! Your heart will break and your blood will boil when you learn what her life was like and how she came to be the damaged anti-heroine we root for.
I’ll be jumping right into book three, as book two has a helluva cliffhanger and I hate to dangle… and I don’t have to! Yay for having the next book on hand already! (finished 12/11/12)
