Yarn: Debbie Bliss Rialto 4-ply in color# 22005 (deep brown), approx 208 yds or 58g (Each ball measures 189 yds/50g ball.)
Needles: US size 0 circ for the body of the hat. US size 000 for the ribbing.
Mods: No deliberate changes above the ribbing, although I inadvertently knit the body to 7.25 inches, rather than 7.5 inches, as the pattern calls for. No excuse, I just misread the pattern. Sigh.
In the ribbing, I was worried that the hat was going to be miles too big after I did the decreases in the first row, which take down the number of stitches by 20 percent. On a whim, I did a second set of decreases in the purls, taking the stitch count down by another 25 percent. The resulting circumference just barely fits on my head, and it fit a smaller-craniumed (what? if it’s not a word, it should be) woman at work snugly, without being tight. I’m betting that this means it will fit Nyla just right. (If not, her mom can return it to me and I’ll rip out the bind-off, frog a row and use that yarn to rebind it off, this time more loosely.)
