Yarn: Cabin Fever Cotton Tweed DK (45% cotton/55% acrylic), 300 yds (1.2 skeins… each skein is 250 yds/100 g)
Needle: US size 4 circ
Buttons: 6 dark-blue plastic 1/2-inch buttons, 6 clear plastic 1/3-inch backing buttons
Pattern: the cardigan portion of the Pea Pod Baby Set by Kate Gilbert … modified to take out the most recognizable part of the “pea pod” pattern (i.e., the lace portion)
Modifications: The most obvious and aforementioned change in the front lace panel, wherein I did not knit that. It’s a 16-stitch-wide section, so I googled “16-stitch cable pattern” and found a few links, the most promising of which was to a book for sale. The book is 400 Knitting Stitches by Murdoch Books. Surprisingly, there were instructions for all 400 motifs in the search results, but I couldn’t print them out from the link. As the instructions are both written and charted, it was simple to find the one I liked best and scrawl down the written directions. This one is called a double plait, I think.
