by Jan Eriksen – Dreck. Truly. The only reason I read more than 25 pages in this book was because I promised that I would, as I am one of the first-round judges in a writing competition, and this book is an entry. It would have been unfair of me to try to evaluate it without finishing it. So I did. I do not recommend it. The writing is awful, the dialogue (between characters and internal) is stilted and unbelievable, and the action all takes place offstage, so to speak. The main character is unrelateable, and the author jumped the POV from minor character to minor character whenever she wanted to talk about anything that our main character had not seen or heard. The whole work is very passive, and the main character’s emotional state was all over the place, but she was always needy and insecure. Although categorized as a romantic suspense, there was damned little suspense and even less romance. (finished 5/14/14)
